Maha Shivaratri is recognised as a night of spiritual consecration and inner discipline, when sincere practice and vigilant prayer help the seeker turn the mind inward toward God.

On this holy occasion, Bhagavān Sri Sathya Sai Baba taught that one should meditate upon Shiva with deep regard and focus, as this brings the aspirant closer to the Divine Presence and helps the “corpse‑like” state of mind become God‑like through awareness of the Eternal Indweller.
