The Gift of Water

A Sacred Responsibility

With the Blessings and Grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the SSSGC South Africa -National EnviroCare Wing is pleased to share this Booklet with you.

In our daily lives, water is often taken for granted - flowing easily from our taps, meeting our every need. Yet, this life-sustaining element is far more than a convenience; it is a sacred gift from God, sustaining all creation and reminding us of the unity that binds us all.

This booklet gently guides us to reflect on our relationship with water - not as something we own, but as something we are entrusted to protect. Through spiritual insights, practical awareness, and inspiring examples from Bhagawan’s life, we are reminded that the way we treat water reflects our values and our Dharma.

As Swami reminds us:

“Water is considered a gift of God and is essential for life. Without water, humans cannot survive even for a moment.” - Summer Showers, 2000

From His early days of carrying water over long distances, to His divine mission of providing drinking water to entire communities, Bhagawan’s life is a testament to humility, service, and reverence for this precious resource.

Today, as many face water scarcity while others have abundance, we are called to act with greater awareness and compassion. Every drop conserved becomes an offering. Every mindful action becomes an expression of love.

May we walk the path of gratitude, responsibility, and unity - preserving this gift of life for generations to come.
